Project Pieces

The main objective was to look at the overwhelming feeling of depression and stress. I looked at the artist Louise Bourgeois, specifically the sculpture Maman. The imagery of the spider is extremely paternal and overbearing, just like how the feelings of low mood can be overwhelming. I wanted to elevate this piece further into 3D, experimenting with textiles and creating a wire spider. I also tapped into some technical sewing with a two-piece dress in which the bodice is bag-lined and boned. 

This is an expansion of the spider project. I still looked at similar themes, but I wanted to refine the patterns I was making as well as the diverse types of shading I can do. During this process, I experimented with perspective and perfected my use of pen and ink. As part of my process, I also use digital techniques to create a good reference that I have learned makes my final outcomes more refined.
